Mother Letter Update-Lisa Makes The Official MLP Badge

CLICK HERE TO READ ABOUT THE GENESIS OF THE MOTHER LETTER PROJECT.

By now you know the story. I am collecting a series of open letters-the Mother Letters-for my wife's Christmas present. How do I leave a letter, you inquire? Email HERE, or comment HERE. Please refer to the FAQs in the side bar for answers to more of your questions. They explain the project in greater detail.

BADGE UPDATE

Congratulations to Lisa, who has officially created the Mother Letter Project badge! She is currently helping me code the badge (as previously stated, this mysterious blog-land is new to me). She is the feature post for today (at least) and I am donating $25 to that little African village on her behalf!

A little about Lisa in her own words:

I'm Lisa from Crazy Adventures in Parenting. I'm a military wife with six children, who, as I'm sure you can tell, is super busy! We have three boys and three girls. When I'm not finding humor and craziness to blog about in changing diapers, playing referee or taxi, kissing boo boos, baking from scratch or simmering down teenage hormones, I'm the Big Families editor at TypeAMom.net, a contributing vlogger at NewBaby.com and beginning the new year, I will be a contributing writer for the topic "Parenting/Military Life" at Happy To Be At Home. As a chemically sensitive family, I'm a big advocate for living naturally and huge organic nut. I love to bake and cook from scratch, do arts and crafts with the kids, I also love giving and helping others. You'll often find me blogging somewhere about recipes, budgeting, kid humor and tips and tricks to make parenting that much easier, or at least a little funnier.

Thanks again, Lisa!

Have fun; be encouraged. Merry Christmas

Hamster,

Do whatever you like. I jumped to your blog and see that you have a penchant for writing. Would also appreciate your finding of writerly mothers for the project. Thanks.

neat idea! :)

Thanks, Amydeanne. Please feel free to contribute. I would certainly appreciate the additional voice.

To all of you reading this post, help me make a big push. We have about 1 month before I have to start compiling. The hits on the site are already doing really well, and I thank all of you for that. Please feel free to encourage other mothers to write letters, though, whether through the blog or otherwise. Let them know that if they contribute before Christmas, they will receive their own copy of the letters (just make sure to get an email address, or if they want a hard copy, mailing address).

I'm trying to figure out how to unveil the present. Any ideas?

Thanks again for all of your help. Let's keep this thing rolling!

I have two letters (use both or one--whatever you want). I just copied and pasted from my blog (you posted a comment on it a little bit ago). I put it into microsoft word and converted it to a letter. Where do I send it?

Send all letters to...

motherletter@gmail.com

That is, if you want to email... :)

Thanks for helping with the project, Carla. It is a huge blessing to hear from all of you out there and I look forward to reading your letters.

One of the most romantic, amazing, heart warming, thoughtful, creative, touching, unbelieveable things I have EVER SEEN.

I can't WAIT to write my letter, but I need some time to think through what I want to say.

I am going to go now to post a link on my own blog. I'll be praying for a great response, and I can't wait to see the "collection"! I predict that it will be a bestseller!!!

I'm going to spend the next (how ever long it takes) writing my letter you your very fortunate wife. How about putting the letters into a diary, scrap book or calendar format - she gets to read one or more every day?

I'm in! What an incredible gift you are giving, not only to your wife (and that's a BIG wow!), but also to the rest of us mothers. Even if you weren't sending out copies, it's still an amazing thing to validate a mom and tell her that she has something to share with a complete stranger that will encourage her in her own experience of motherhood. All I know is that you rock!

I've posted on my site about it here:

Thank you for the opportunity to participate in something so heart-felt!

You should print the letters into a spiral bound book and sell them - with the profits going to the charity that your Christmas money is going to :)

Dear Mother,
I am not a Mother yet, and do not have any sage stories or trials of child rearing to share with you. But as a young woman who can still remember her years spent being reared I do have one plea: The rules aren't always right! When I was very young I was diagnoses with a learning disability, and at the time one of the ways for helping children who were LD and ADD was to remove all distractions from their learning area, and environment in general. My parents realizing my creativity did not do this, they just worked a little harder with me. And they gave me the gift of my very own desk; with drawers and cubbies to fill with crayons, paper and other creative distractions. My spelling is still not the strongest; but I later went on to the Talented and Gifted program, a Charter School for the Art and Humanities and a great small highly rated College. I now write poetry and essays, blog, and craft. And though I had many hard years in school, I learned how to focus myself, work at my faults, and were able to keep the things I loved and brought me joy in my life.

Much Luck and Peace,
Kate (a young writer with a rocky start)
